The Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) issued on February 18, 224, Resolution No. 24 of 2024, the new Data Privacy Regulations, which replaces the data privacy regulations previously issued under CITRA’s Resolution No. 42 of 2021 and amended by CITRA Resolution No. 244 of 2023.

Further, in regard to the classification of data, CITRA also issued on February 18, 2024, Resolution No. 34 of 2024, which repeals the CITRA’s data classification regulations in it’s entirely, previously issued under CITRA’s Resolution No. Resolution No. 9 of 2021, as amended by CITRA’s Resolution No. 95 of 2021.

These new CITRA resolutions significantly impact data privacy protection controls in the Kuwait market and may necessitate a review of data policies currently enforced by Kuwait companies and establishments.
