ASAR is pleased to announce that it is acting as Kuwait counsel for Macquarie AirFinance in connection with the acquisition of a portfolio of 23 aircraft from ALAFCO Aviation Lease and Finance Company (ALAFCO) a Kuwaiti listed entity. This is in addition to representing Macquarie AirFinance in relation to its existing agreement with ALAFCO to purchase 52 aircraft, taking the total number of aircraft Macquarie is acquiring to 75.

These widely publicised transactions will enable Macquarie to further expand and diversify its fleet of aircraft, while improving the emissions profile, scale, average age, remaining lease term and order book.

In addition to acting for Macquarie AirFinance, ASAR is also acting in a joint Kuwait counsel capacity to ALAFCO on certain aspects of the transaction, and advising the financiers on the financing arrangements for certain aircraft.

As part of these representations, ASAR successfully obtained two competition approvals from the Kuwait Competition Protection Agency.
