Paul Day is a Partner at ASAR and has been with the firm since 1999. Paul has extensive experience in corporate and commercial law matters including the representation of local and foreign clients in franchise, establishment of Kuwaiti limited liability companies, employment, construction, taxation and agency/distributorship related matters. Paul is a member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan. He received his Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1989 and his law degree in 1991 from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Paul’s practice language is English.
2015 / 2016 Highlights
- Representing a foreign principal and its newly appointed agent in a USD 50 million compensation claim arising from the termination of the current distributor.
- Advising various foreign corporates in relation to their set up of a local presence in Kuwait, including structuring advice concerning the implementation of various arrangements to adddress Kuwait’s foreign ownership restrictions.
- Advising and assisting businesses to establish franchise arrangements, in both single and multi-territory arrangements, and advising on appropriate and practical solutions to mitigate a franchisor or franchisee’s exposure to legal roadblocks
- Advising foreign clients in their establishment of agency or distributorship relationships with local individuals or entities to enable them to achieve their business goals, while mitigating their legal exposure when entering into and terminating agency or distributor relationships.
